About NMIT

NMIT, based in the northern region of Melbourne, offers a diverse range of training programs to young and mature aged students. With six campuses in Melbourne’s north – Preston, Collingwood, Epping, Fairfield, Greensborough and Heidelberg, and one campus in rural Victoria in Ararat, NMIT offers more than 500 nationally-accredited courses both on a full-time and part-time basis. It also has 380 institute accredited courses. Quality training includes equine studies to engineering, commercial cookery to carpentry and aquaculture to office administration. There are a variety of study options ranging from pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships and traineeships through to certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas. Specialist bachelor and associate degrees are also offered for higher education studies.

NMIT currently offers three-year, specialist bachelor degrees in Applied Aquaculture, Australian Popular Music, Equine Studies and Viticulture & Winemaking. Other degrees undergoing accreditation are Agriculture & Land Management, Writing & Publishing, Illustration, Hospitality Management, Screen & TV Production, Horticulture and Massage & Myotherapy. A four-year degree in Early Childhood Education is also being written.

Associate degrees are offered in International Business, Business Management and Accounting with other associate degrees forming part of the above mentioned bachelor degree programs.

NMIT Laboratory

NMIT has approximately 30,000 enrolments in Australia with students studing in modern facilities that mirror the real world to obtain practical experience. The institute’s six northern campuses are located within convenient reach by public transport, connecting to local shopping centres, entertainment venues and international restaurants. Excellent resources complement NMIT’s training programs in modern facilities.

Features of NMIT include a 300-hectare thoroughbred stud, Northern Lodge, a 320-hectare agricultural property, Yan Yean, a training restaurant and bistro, St Georges, hairdressing salons and a building and construction training centre to name a few.
