Course Description

This course is designed to provide appropriate training for the industry qualification for people undertaking animal technology functions within a scientific environment.

Students will need to complete a two-week work placement in an animal technology environment.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this course may gain employment in science, research and educational facilities. Technicians are employed to perform a variety of roles but especially in care and husbandry at a junior level progressing to management, techniques and research.

Course Duration

Offered as one year full-time and then two years part-time.
Additional units of competency may form part of the diploma.

Employed students can contact the department regarding part-time options.

Course Commencement Dates

Full-time: February
Part-time: February. Only mid year if required/ available if employed in animal technology.

Entrance Requirements

Satisfactory completion of VCE. Please refer to VTAC guide. Mature applicants are encouraged to apply. May need to attend an interview.
