| Course Description
The Certificate III in Offsite Construction is divided into three specific industry training streams.
These are as follows:
- Joinery-Timber/Aluminium/Glass
- Shopfitting
- Stairs
Each of the above offsite construction streams offers apprentices the opportunity to develop competency in the broad range of skills associated with the specific industry to which they are apprenticed.
These skills may include but are not restricted to the following:
- Communication
- OH & S
- Hand tool skills
- Power tool skills
- Timber machining skills
- Door & Window construction
- Aluminium & Timber shopfront
- Showcase and Cabinet construction
- Stair construction
- Partition construction and installation
- Cutting and installation of glass.

| Career Opportunities
Depending on which particular course graduates have completed, they may gain employment in either the joinery, stairbuilding or shopfitting area of the building industry.

| Course Duration
NMIT conducts block release training for each of the three offsite construction streams. The programs are structured to allow 8 x one week blocks of training to be undertaken each year.
The duration of the training program is approximately 24 weeks for each stream and is delivered over a period of three years.

Applicants must be apprenticed.

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers on the basis of previous qualifications.

Students who have completed their Certificate III training may choose to do further post-apprenticeship studies in associated fields.

| Assessment Methods
Assessment for this course is competency based. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate competence by satisfactorily completing the specified theory based tasks and practical projects

| Qualification
As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will be awarded the Certificate III in Offsite Construction in the relevant stream, that is, Stairs, Shopfitting or Joinery-Timber/Aluminium/Glass.
