| Course Description
The Certificate II in Electrotechnology Servicing
provides the learner with skills in computer
hardware and operating systems. Students learn the functionality
of hardware and software components as well as best practice in
maintenance and safety issues.
The course also introduces students to basic electrical/electronic
concepts to support theoretical aspects of computer technologies.

Part-time: One year
Full-time: One semester

| Entrance Requirements
Year 11 Mathematics (any) and English.
Mature age applicants and those displaying suitable motivation will
be considered upon interview.
Conversion from other courses or disciplines is
possible. Please contact the Department to discuss arrangements
and/or required bridging units.

| Skills Recognition - Exemptions/Transfers
This course meets national requirements for training
packages and NMIT recognises the AQF qualifications and statements
of attainment awarded by other Registered Training Organisations.

| Pathways to Further Study
Graduates of this course may be given exemptions from
other tertiary institutions if they wish to continue with further
study. The level of exemptions is determined by the individual tertiary
institution on a case by case basis.

Perform basic repair to apparatus - computer systems (60 hrs)

Assemble/disassemble components - computer systems (100 hrs)
Competency Unit – UTE401AA
Perform functional apparatus checks - computer systems (180 hrs)
Competency Unit – UTE002A
Attend a breakdown (20 hrs)

| Assessment Methods
Assessment in this program is conducted in two stages.
Students must complete each unit of underpinning knowledge by satisfactorily
completing the required assignments/
examinations to be eligible to attempt the competency assessment.
The competency assessment consists of a number of actual/simulated
work projects which must be satisfactorily completed to demonstrate
competencies in the relevant workplace functions.

As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program
is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will
be awarded the Certificate II in Electrotechnology Servicing (Computer
Assembly).
Industry Accreditation
Students completing the Certificate II in Electrotechnology
Servicing will have acquired the knowledge and
skills to enable them to obtain the industry recognized CompTIA
A+ Core Hardware Examination.
