Course Description

This qualification provides competencies to overhaul and repair motor, transformer and control gear including rewinding. The course will commence in 2008.

Career Opportunities

Course participants are employed as electrical trades apprentices specialising in machine repair and armature winding.

Course Duration

Part-time: 3 years (980 hours).

Course Commencement Dates

This course will commence in January, 2008.

Entrance Requirements

Students must be apprenticed to an employer.

Application Procedures

Apply directly to the Computer Systems & Electrotechnology Department.

Skills Recognition - Exemptions/Transfers

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers on the basis of previous qualifications.

UEENEEE033A Document occupational hazards and risks in electrical work
UEENEEG001A Solve problems in electromagnetic circuits
UEENEEG002A Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage circuits
UEENEEG050A Wind coils
UEENEEG051A Place and connect coils
UEENEEG052A Rewind single phase induction machines
UEENEEG053A Rewind three phase induction machines rated for low voltage
UEENEEG057A Conduct electrical tests on low voltage electrical machines

Assessment Methods

Assessment in this program is conducted by assignments/examinations and practical tasks.

Materials

A list of required materials will be given upon commencement of the course.

Qualification

As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will be awarded the Certificate III in Electrical Machine Repair.
