Description
The first year of this course is the dual Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) & (Programming) in which the student completes 1030 hours of study. Students successfully completing the first year of the course (Certificate IV) can progress into second year (Advanced Diploma) in which they are able to concentrate their second year studies in one of two streams:
- Network Security
- Database Design & Development / Systems Process & Improvement

This stream will provide the opportunity for students to enhance and further develop the skills and knowledge introduced in the Certificate IV in Information Technology (completed in first year) with emphasis on gateways, bridges/switches and installation/configuration of routers and networks.

Requirements
Satisfactory completion of the Certificate IV in Information Technology. (The first year of the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology).

Procedure
Apply through VTAC for the first year (Certificate IV). Second year students only are to apply directly to the Information Technology Department.
July intake: Apply directly to the Information Technology Department.

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers
on the basis of previous qualifications and/or work experience.

| Pathways
to Further Study
Students completing the Advanced Diploma may be eligible for exemptions into various Victorian university courses. The amount of credit will depend on the type of university course students wish to enter. Please contact the university entrance office directly. Students will receive 120 credit points (equivalent to one and a half years) if they are accepted into the Bachelor of Information Systems at the Australian Catholic University.

As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program
is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will
be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Network Security).
