Success Stories

NMIT - Success Stories - Amanda Bennett - Image

NMIT helped Amanda Bennett to follow her passion and discover a new career.

Amanda discovered her knack for website design while working as an administration manager.

Amanda, 30, started working on her employer’s web sites in 2004 and soon after decided to start formal education in web applications.

Amanda resigned from her job and started a dual diploma in e-business and web applications at NMIT and she hasn’t looked back.

‘The quality of the teachers at NMIT surprised me. Their level of experience and their work background is very good,’ Amanda said.

‘The course I am doing is very broad and there is a lot of opportunity,’ she said.

Amanda is looking at starting her own web-development business.

‘I love the freedom in what you can do with a website, you are not restricted within web-development software,’ she said.

‘I like solving problems and the sense of accomplishment you have when you unravel a problem.’

This is Amanda’s second time at a TAFE institute after studying a hospitality course when she finished secondary school.

‘I felt that teachers are more approachable now than they were when I first went to TAFE,’ she said.

‘It is much easier to learn now.’

‘After doing the website at the company where I worked, I found that I enjoyed it.’

‘I am definitely happy with my choices and I’m happy with what I am doing right now.’

Amanda is considering the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at NMIT to teach others about web development.
