The locksmithing industry is an industry of constant change with
new products, new methods and ever increasing competition for the
available work.
NMIT is able to provide training in every aspect of security. We

Description
The apprenticeship course has been designed after extensive consultation
with industry. The course has been developed to provide extensive
relevant training for apprentices in the locksmithing industries.

Graduates of this course may gain employment as qualified tradespeople
in the field of locksmithing.

Duration
Part-time: Three years (960 hours) of a four year apprenticeship.
Attendance may be either day release or block release. Block release
comprises of four 2 weekly blocks each year for the 3 years of the
apprenticeship at NMIT.

Applicants must be engaged in full-time employment with a qualified
Locksmith.

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers
on the basis of previous qualifications.

to Further Study
Students may be interested in specialised courses when choosing
a particular field within the security technology industry. Students
are also eligible to enrol in the diploma course one they have completed
their apprenticeship.

Methods
Assessment is by completion of all learning outcomes for each unit. All units are competency based.

As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program
is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will
