Course Description

The Security Technology section is able to provide individualised courses to meet the training requirements of the security industry and related areas. We are able to conduct: 

  • Skills audit 
  • Needs analysis 
  • Individualised training package 
  • In house or NMIT based delivery of the training package 
  • Evaluation of training outcomes.


All areas of Security Technology including :

  • Automotive Locksmithing 
  • Lock Design and Types 
  • Key machines 
  • Door Closers 
  • Lock Opening Techniques 
  • Key Making by Reading and Impression Method 
  • Key cutting 
  • General Locksmithing 
  • Masterkeying 
  • Electronic Security 
  • Safe Design, Servicing and Opening 
  • Security


The department is also able to offer in-house training at your facilities. We provide all necessary locksmithing equipment, teaching notes and educational resources.

Entrance Requirements

These courses are best suited to: 

  • Locksmiths with trade certificates in locksmithing, Tradesperson's Rights in Locksmithing or licenced locksmiths. 
  • Members or employees of:
    Master Locksmiths Association of Australia or
    Australia and New Zealand Locksmith Association or
    Locksmiths Guild of Australia or
    ASLI.
