Course Description

The diploma provides education and training for people who are currently employed in the health science industry and wanting to develop skills necessary to perform a broad range of remedial, sports and therapeutic massage techniques; or those wishing to gain employment in the field.

Students who complete the qualification and who also hold a current level 2 first aid certificate are eligible to apply for membership with various massage associations.

Career Opportunities

Employment can be gained through either self-employment or working with clubs, other health professions, hospitals, resorts and fitness centres.

Course Duration

Full-time: 12 months

Entrance Requirements

Completion of VCE or equivalent, or mature age. Prospective students may be required to attend an interview as part of the entrance requirement. Prospective students may also be required to submit to a police check. It is an advantage but not a requirement for prospective students to complete an introduction to massage course.

Please note: Assessment in this course requires students to give and receive massage. Students who cannot meet this requirement for any reason should not enrol in this course.

Skills Recognition - Exemptions/Transfers

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) may be available based on skills and knowledge already acquired by the applicant through previous study or equivalent studies of a similar standard at another institution or from various work and life skills.

Pathways to Further Study

Students who successfully complete the diploma (or equilivant) may continue study in the advanced diploma.

Some text books must be purchased as per booklist. Miscellaneous items such as oils, polo top and class materials etc. are also compulsory.

Diploma of Remedial Massage As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will be awarded the Diploma of Remedial Massage.
