Course Description

Part-time Certificate III courses are designed to provide participants with operational skills and knowledge to perform a broad range of defined duties within a variety of tourism sectors.

Certificate III in Tourism (Retail Travel Sales):
- Domestic Travel Sales Consultant

Certificate III in Tourism (International Retail Travel Sales):
- International & Domestic Travel Sales Consultants

Course Duration

Part-time, evening classes are conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm to 10.30 pm.

Certificate III in Meetings and Events - Duration: 1.5 years: (plus 2 units to be completed during day classes)
Certificate III in Tourism (Visitor Information Services) - Duration: Two years
Certificate III in Tourism (Operations) - Duration: Two years
Certificate III in Tourism (Tour Wholesaling) - Duration: Two years
Certificate III in Tourism (Retail Travel Sales) - Duration: Two years
Certificate III in Tourism (International Retail Travel Sales) - Duration: Two years

Course Commencement Dates

February and July.

Entrance Requirements

Participants are eligible to enter the course if they are considered to be sufficiently mature and experienced to undertake the course successfully.

Application Procedures

Apply directly to the Tourism Department.
Information and Enrolment sessions occur in November, December, January, February and June.

Skills Recognition - Exemptions/Transfers

Students may be eligible for exemptions/transfers on the basis of previous qualifications.

Pathways to Further Study

Participants are able to articulate into other tourism courses and obtain credits for units successfully completed.

Assessment Methods

Assessment methods have been designed to complement the learning outcomes. Assessments are ongoing and can occur during class hours, therefore 100% attendance is expected, except in the case of illness where special consideration is granted.
Assessment methods include but are not restricted to:

  • reports and case studies
  • group activities
  • verbal and written reports
  • discussions and role plays
  • practical exercises
  • computer simulations
  • tests/exams.
