Description
The Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing is designed to provide participants with skills
in writing and editing for employment or further tertiary study.
Participants will develop awareness of industry standards and demands
and develop knowledge of the markets available to the professional
writer and editor.

Requirements
Applicants should submit a writing folio and attend a selection
interview. The folio must include varied examples (such as short
pieces, extracts from long pieces, fiction, non-fiction, poetry,
academic writing and so on).

Full-time: Apply through VTAC. An NMIT Supplementary Application Form is also required.
Part-time: Apply directly to the Vocational
Pathways Department with Direct Application Form.

Methods
Assessment will be continuous and will be based on the quality
of work submitted and attendance and participation and will vary
from module to module. Assessment methods may include the following:

- interviews
- field visits
- contribution to classroom discussion
- demonstrations
- collections of information.

Students are given a booklist at the start of the course and are
required to provide their own writing materials, stationery and
computer discs.

| Qualification
As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised. On successful completion students will be awarded the Certificate IV in Professional Writing and Editing.
