The Centre of Excellence for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a statewide leader in providing information, research and advice to educational policy makers, and teaching and support staff who work with deaf students in Victoria. The Centre of Excellence envisages a post secondary education system where deaf students will have positive learning experiences of Vocational Education and Training (VET) that enable them to move onto further training and/or suitable and satisfying employment equivalent to the wider community.

The Centre’s vision statement is:

To advocate a whole of life approach for deaf students in Vocational Education and Training to enable them to have positive learning experiences leading to employment opportunities.

The Centre's mission statement is:

The Centre is a leader in providing expertise and advice to key stakeholders in the Vocational Education and Training sector on the teaching, learning and accessibility needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The Centre values:

• We value the contribution post secondary education plays in improving the economic, social and educational potential of deaf and hard of hearing learners in Victoria
• We value our connections and partnerships with the stakeholders that work with deaf and hard of hearing people in Victoria

The Centre was established in 1993 as a result of funding from the department now known as Skills Victoria . The Centre continues to receive funding from the department.
