The Faculty of Engineering's training facilities at NMIT's Heidelberg campus are recognised nationally and internationally for their functional design and use of advanced technology reflecting current industry practice.
As well as catering for entry level trainees and apprentices through to technician and associate engineers, the faculty also delivers specialised short courses and industry specific programs to businesses both here and abroad. The faculty has trained students from India, Indonesia and New Zealand, many of which have travelled to Melbourne to use the institute's training facilities.
NMIT is the only institute in Australia to provide an Advanced Certificate in Locksmithing and conducts locksmith training for apprentices in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania,
the Northern Territory and New Zealand.
The faculty's industry consultants specialise in the design and production of customised training courses, training manuals, skills audits, workplace assessments and occupational health and safety training.
Training courses for CAD/CAM, robotics, electrical licensing, PLC's and metal fabrication are regularly updated to meet the changing needs of technology and production methods.
