An articulation pathway exists between the TAFE Diploma of Hospitality and the Bachelor of Hospitality Management.
Training pathway from diploma through to a Degree in Hospitality Management
The diploma to degree is an exciting pathway that combines the practical skills and knowledge of diploma level training in food and beverage, bar operations, cookery, and event management with the applied analysis, critical thinking, and research undertaken within the degree course. The diploma to degree can be achieved in a four year period.
Articulation pathways from TAFE courses within and outside NMIT will need to be determined on individual application. TAFE courses, in particular, hospitality management, and event management at diploma and advanced diploma level will included units that would be given a subject credit within the Bachelor of Hospitality Management, but the full extent of the credits would be determined on individual application.
The pathway also includes a substantial fee saving within the degree component.
Industry standard facilities and equipment
The training facilities for each of the faculty program areas include industry standard equipment that is current and reflective of industry best practice. The facilities and equipment provide students with the opportunity to develop their practical skills and knowledge in a training environment that is similar to the industry workplace.
Study Grants
NMIT awards a number of industry- sponsored study grants to enrolled students. The study grants reward academic achievement, and acknowledges outstanding enthusiasm and commitment towards the course of study, and achievement of career objective.
The study grants are awarded to assist with relocation or study costs.
Links to employment
The faculty departments maintain active involvement with their industry organisations. The industry links provide employment opportunities for students and open important networking opportunities. Student projects involving industry partners are an integral part of the training delivery within the faculty.
