Engineering Industry Services
The Faculty of Engineering comprises the Computer Systems and Electrotechnology Department and Mechanical Manufacturing Department.

Each department delivers certificate to advanced diploma level training programs from the Electrotechnology, Computer Systems, Transmission and Engineering training packages.

Customised Training
NMIT can customise training programs, specifically designed to meet your industry needs. All courses are accredited via the NMIT accreditation process which meets national accreditation standards. Our procedures are also ISO 9001 quality accredited ensuring courses are professionally delivered and subject to ongoing review and improvement procedures.

On-Site Training
If you cannot come to us, we will come to you!

Training can be completed on-the-job at your worksite. Qualifications can be gained in individual modules i.e. OH&S, Quality, Communications or in a full certificate i.e. Certificate in Engineering – Mechanical. All qualifications are nationally accredited by the relevant Training boards and NMIT.
Training is delivered by qualified staff and can be conducted for small or large groups on site at a time to suit you.

Traineeships
Traineeships are a government-funded program that allows employers to train new and existing staff in the areas of Engineering and Electotechnology. The employer can receive up to $4000 per trainee. The training is customised to suit the individual employee and the employer allowing for all relevant competencies to be achieved.

Our trainer will conduct regular visits and train on your site using customised materials prepared by NMIT. All qualifications are nationally accredited through the relevant Training Boards and NMIT.


Workplace Assessment
Looking for formal qualifications to support your industry training?
This faculty has a number of Industry trained assessors who can visit your premises and assess you and/or your staff . Qualifications can be gained in individual modules or in a full certificate. All qualifications are nationally accredited by the relevant Training Boards and NMIT. Assessment can take the form of an on site visit where observation, questioning and sometimes formal testing is applied so that the required level of competency can be demonstrated.
Assessments can be done for as little as one staff member or your whole staff.

Occupational Health and Safety
Can provide your company with the practical skills and training needs to meet your OH & S obligations in accordance with WorkCover requirements.

NMIT has the expertise and industrially experienced staff to assist your company with all your OH & S requirements by delivering a comprehensive range of consultancy services and training programs to enable you to provide a safe and productive workplace.

Courses currently available at NMIT:

· Construction Induction Card (formerly Red Card Training)
· Working in a Confined Space
· Safe Working at Heights

Industry and Site Specific Courses:

· Hazard Identification and Risk Control
· OH&S Management and Supervisory Training
· First Aid Levels 1,2 and 3

Industry and site specific courses can be designed to individual needs.

Skills Audits
The Faculty of Engineering can conduct a Skills Analysis to identify the current workplace skills required by staff. This is followed by a Skills Audit, which is conducted to identify skills gaps and define training opportunities available to enable the upskilling of you and/or your staff. Training programs are then designed and developed to improve the skill level of all staff. [details]

Competency Assessments
The Faculty of Engineering can carry out Competency Assessments of staff to the National metals competency Standards and design Competency profiles for areas in the company.

Trade Tests
Trade tests in the areas of welding, jewellery, fitting and machining can be conducted for Trades Recognition and VETASSESS.

Licence Testing
Licence Trade Tests can be conducted by the Faculty of Engineering under the Electrical Chief inspector guidelines.
