How to Apply

To apply to NMIT as an international student you must be 18 years of age or older.

You are an international student if you do NOT have permanent residency in Australia and if you are on a bridging visa.

Application Process
Australia has adopted a classification system for incoming students. Countries are classified at Assessment Level 1 to 4 (AL1, AL2, AL3, AL4). The Application process differs for each Assessment level.

For all levels, to be granted a student visa you must provide evidence that satisfies the assessment factors applicable to you - these include your financial ability, English proficiency, and likely compliance with the conditions of your visa. These factors will be different for students from countries with different assessment levels and whether you are applying from within Australia or in another country.

Package Courses
If you wish to apply for a package course made up of say, ELICOS followed by the mainstream course, you must apply for a visa under the subclass associated with the principal course. You should then send your fees with acceptance form sent with your letter of offer. If you are applying for a course from a country rated AL1 or 2 you should send fees and Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC) payment with the acceptance form to NMIT upon receipt of the letter of offer. You will then be sent an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (e-COE). Upon receipt of the e-COE you may proceed to apply for a visa.

If you are applying outside Australia as an applicant in Assessment Level 3 or 4, countries your visa application must be supported by a Letter of Offer from NMIT. Do not send money at this stage. Lodge your visa application at the Australian Embassy. Send this letter with the appropriate fees to NMIT and you will be issued an e-COE. Note: Special arrangements apply for agents with eVisa rights in selected AL3 and AL4 countries.
