NMIT has extensive regional vineyards and state of the art wineries with specialist equipment to enable students to learn and experiment under supervision. Specialised equipment includes fully automated irrigation systems, computerised weather stations, fertigation systems, frost control systems, farm tillage and soil analysis systems. Heavy equipment includes a modern mechanical harvester.
NMIT's wineries have the latest equipment for the commercial production of wine including rotary fermenters, bottling lines, presses, crusher/destemmer and quality tanks. Specialist equipment for wine tasting is provided at the NMIT Primary Industries Production Training Centre.
