Interested in TV production?
Got an idea for a great program?
How about shooting it in a brand new $2 million TV studio - FOR FREE!!!
NMIT TV is based at the Collingwood campus of NMIT, one of the largest TAFE institutes in Victoria. We run courses in:
- Certificate III of Screen
- Certificate IV of Screen
- Advanced Diploma in Screen
NMIT TV has recently upgraded to full HD broadcast quality capability at the cost of $2m, most of which has been invested in equipment. The studio now matches, and in some cases surpasses, national broadcast production facilities.
In 2008, NMIT TV is running a competition. The competition is aimed at strengthening ties with Victorian schools.
How does it work?
Send your best-completed VCE work by 27 th June 2008 and NMIT TV will select the three best schools to receive one whole day (8hrs) in the magnificent NMIT TV studio completely free of charge. This includes the services of Cameron Bailey, our Studio Manager and Technical Director. Each winning school is free to propose whatever use of the studio they like, in consultation with Cameron, and will work with your teachers and classmates to make your proposal a reality, and to maximise the benefits in utilising our studio. Each winning school will be responsible for organising all preproduction, including schedules, content, performers, scripts, rehearsals, sets, props, costumes, make-up and crew to operate the equipment – that’s right, you will be hand’s on operating the very latest in TV broadcast technology! NMIT TV will provide training on all equipment on the day. Winning schools can nominate any weekday in August 2008 for their shoot. Other arrangements may be made to suit your schools timetable.
Who can participate?
Any school in Victoria running a VCE program in 2007/2008.
What needs to be submitted?
To enter the competition, each school must submit:

It would be preferred that each school submit the best works from a range of genres.
- Each program must be up to, or around, 5 minutes duration.
- The format must be either DV tape (Mini-DV or DV-CAM) or DVD.
- An application form must be submitted by each school.
